Calendar widgets with an agenda of the coming days, the next event with a countdown and a compact agenda
- Personal, work and school Microsoft accounts
- Agenda and next event on a Calendar widget
- Join the current Teams meeting with one press
- Choose which calendars, including shared ones
- Sign in through the browser, no app registration needed
The Outlook Calendar integration reads the calendars of a personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live) or of a Microsoft 365 work or school account. Their events become available to Macro Deck's calendar features: the Calendar widget, the calendar triggers and the Join Meeting action. Macro Deck only reads. It never creates, changes or deletes an event.
Setting it up is a browser sign-in: you sign in with your Microsoft account, allow Macro Deck to read your calendars, and choose the calendars Macro Deck should use. Your own calendars and calendars others shared with you are listed. Only the calendars you choose reach widgets and triggers.
What you can do with it
- Calendar widget: the Agenda layout lists your upcoming events, and the Next event layout counts down to the next one. Press it to see the details of an event, with its location, description, who is invited and a Join meeting button.
- Triggers: Event Starts Soon, Event Started and Event Ended run actions around your meetings, in an automation or on a widget. They can be limited to one account or one calendar.
- Join Meeting: opens the meeting link of the event that is running or about to start, on the computer running Macro Deck. A Teams meeting's link is used as the meeting link.
Some example setups:
- A key on your deck with Join Meeting, so you join the current Teams call with one press.
- An automation on Event Starts Soon that shows a notification a few minutes before a meeting.
- A Next event widget on your desk tablet that counts down to your next meeting.
How it behaves
Macro Deck reads your calendars every five minutes, from yesterday through about a week ahead, and the Refresh Calendars action reads them right away. Recurring meetings show each occurrence. A calendar you create, or that someone shares with you later, is not added on its own: choose Edit connection next to the account and pick it.
You can connect several Microsoft accounts, each as its own configuration. When an account cannot be read, the widgets keep its last known events and say that some calendars could not be updated, and Integrations shows a notice for the account.
The sign-in goes through Macro Deck's own app at Microsoft. If your organization does not allow it, you can register an app of your own in the Azure portal and enter it under Advanced configuration in the setup.
What you need
- Macro Deck 3 on Windows, macOS or Linux
- A personal Microsoft account or a Microsoft 365 work or school account
- A browser on the computer that runs Macro Deck, for the Microsoft sign-in
- In some organizations, an administrator who approves the app
Set it up
Step 1: Open the Outlook Calendar setup
In the sidebar, click Integrations and then Outlook Calendar. Click Add configuration under Configuration on the Overview tab. Turning on the switch at the top right opens the same dialog, and the integration is turned on once the setup is done. The Connect Outlook Calendar dialog opens.
Step 2: Sign in with your Microsoft account
Click Continue. Your browser opens the Microsoft sign-in: sign in and allow Macro Deck to read your calendars. Leave Advanced configuration empty to use Macro Deck's app. Some organizations only let administrators allow apps; then the sign-in asks for an administrator's approval.
Step 3: Choose your calendars
Back in Macro Deck, the dialog shows Choose calendars. Tick the calendars to use under Calendars and click Continue. A calendar someone shared with you shows who shares it. Choose at least one.
Step 4: Add a Calendar widget
On the Deck page, add a Calendar widget. In its settings, choose the Layout, Agenda or Next event, and the Calendars to show. Leave Calendars empty to show every connected calendar.
Step 5: Add Join Meeting to a button
On the Deck page, make sure the deck is unlocked (the button at the top right reads Lock) and click a button. The editor opens with Short Press selected. Click + Add action, choose Calendar on the left of the Add action dialog and pick Join Meeting. Starts within sets how early it joins an upcoming meeting, 15 minutes by default, and Calendar limits it to one calendar.
Step 6: Press the button
Click Save and press the button during a meeting, or shortly before it. The meeting link opens on the computer running Macro Deck. When no event with a meeting link is running or starting soon, the action says so.

Frequently asked questions
Which Microsoft accounts work?
Personal Microsoft accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live) and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts. Some organizations only let an administrator allow apps; then ask an administrator to approve Macro Deck.
Can I connect more than one account?
Yes. Click Add configuration on the Outlook Calendar page and sign in with the other account. If you connect an account that is already connected, Integrations shows Microsoft account connected twice: remove the older configuration.
Why is a new or shared calendar missing?
Only the calendars you chose during setup are used. Choose Edit connection next to the account, sign in again and pick the calendar.
What does Macro Deck get access to?
Macro Deck asks Microsoft only for read access to your calendars (Calendars.Read) and for your name and email address, which name the account. The sign-in is stored encrypted on the computer that runs Macro Deck.
Can I use an app registration of my own?
Yes. Register an app in the Azure portal under App registrations, in a Microsoft Entra directory (a personal Microsoft account needs a directory first, for example from a free Azure account). Add the platform Mobile and desktop applications with the redirect URI the setup shows, and add the delegated permission Calendars.Read. Then enter its Application (client) ID under Advanced configuration, and for an app of a single organization its Tenant.
What happens when Microsoft ends the sign-in?
Integrations shows Microsoft sign-in expired for the account, and the widgets keep its last known events. Choose Edit connection or Reconfigure next to the account and sign in again; widgets and triggers set to its calendars keep working.
