1. Scope
These Terms of Service apply to services provided by Macro Deck, Owner Manuel Mayer (see the Imprint):
- the Macro Deck account at auth.macro-deck.app, which you use to sign in to the Creator Portal, to the Store features of Macro Deck and to the Companion licence (section 2), and
- licences for the Macro Deck Companion app for Android and iOS (app.macrodeck.companion) (sections 3 to 6).
They do not change the licence of Macro Deck itself.
2. Macro Deck Account
2.1 Registration
The account is free of charge. Register with an email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password and second factors to yourself: you are responsible for what is done with your account. An account belongs to one person. If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or guardian.
2.2 Acceptable Use
When using your account, you must not:
- create accounts automatically or in bulk, or pretend to be someone else,
- try to access other people's accounts, data or Projects, or get around security measures or limits,
- misuse Store reviews, reports or invitations, for example to post fake reviews, harass others or send unwanted mail, or
- publish or upload content that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others.
2.3 Store Reviews
You keep the rights to your reviews. You allow us, free of charge, to show them in the Macro Deck Store and its registry for as long as they are published.
2.4 Creators
To publish in the Macro Deck Store, you register as a Creator in the Creator Portal and accept the Store Guidelines shown there. You remain responsible for what you publish. Submissions are reviewed, and published content can be rejected, unlisted or revoked if it breaks the Store Guidelines or these terms.
2.5 Moderation, Suspension and Deletion
If content or an account breaks these terms, the Store Guidelines or the law, we can remove or unlist content, restrict features such as writing Store reviews, or suspend the account. We choose the mildest measure that is sufficient, and delete an account only after serious or repeated breaches. We tell you which measure we took and why, and, unless immediate action is needed, give you the chance to respond first. You can object to any decision by writing to legal@macro-deck.app; a person reviews it.
You can report content you believe is illegal or breaks these terms with the report function in the Store or by email to legal@macro-deck.app. Our contact for users and authorities is legal@macro-deck.app, in English or German.
You can have your account deleted at any time by writing to legal@macro-deck.app.
2.6 Availability
We aim to keep the account and the services that use it available, but cannot guarantee that they are available without interruption.
How your data is processed is described in the privacy policy of the Macro Deck Platform.
3. The Companion Licence
The Companion app licence is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play or the App Store. After the purchase, the app is unlocked on the device it was bought on.
The licence can be transferred to a Macro Deck installation. The installation keeps the licence and passes it on to every Companion device that connects to it, so your other phones and tablets are unlocked as well.
4. Your Own Installations Only
You may transfer the licence only to your own Macro Deck installations. It is not permitted to pass a Macro Deck Companion app licence on to someone else, in particular to:
- transfer it to a Macro Deck installation that belongs to another person,
- share, sell, give away or publish the licence or the licence token, or
- otherwise make it available to third parties.
Before the app transfers the licence to a Macro Deck installation, it asks you and shows the identity of that installation, so you can check that it is one of your own.
5. Revocation
A licence that has been passed on in breach of section 4 can be revoked. A revoked licence stops working on every Macro Deck installation and every Companion device it reached. Revocation is permanent.
The purchase itself remains: the device the licence was bought on stays unlocked through its purchase in Google Play or the App Store. No new licence is issued for that purchase, so it can no longer be transferred to Macro Deck installations.
6. Purchases and Refunds
Payment, refunds and restoring purchases are handled by Google (Google Play) or Apple (App Store) under their own terms. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
When a purchase is refunded, its licence is revoked on every Macro Deck installation and Companion device it reached. If you buy the licence again, or the store reverses the refund, a new licence is issued.
How your data is processed is described in the privacy policy of the Companion app.
7. Changes and Contact
We may update these terms when we add or change features or when the law requires it. We tell account holders about changes by email at least four weeks before they take effect and point out that they apply unless you object. If you object, you can delete your account; until then, your account remains under the previous terms. Changes to the main features of the account take effect only if you agree to them. Changes never affect a Companion licence you have already bought to your disadvantage.
The current version is always available on this page.
